Enroll-HD es un estudio observacional mundial para familias con enfermedad de Huntington. Monitoreará cómo aparece la enfermedad y cómo cambia con el tiempo en diferentes personas, y está abierto a personas que tienen EH o que están en riesgo. Está abierto a personas que tienen EH o están en riesgo. pero que no se hayan hecho la prueba, pueden participar en Enroll-HD sin conocer ni saber su estado genético. El objetivo del estudio es acelerar el descubrimiento y desarrollo de nuevas terapias a través de una mejor comprensión de la EH. Comprender cómo se desarrolla normalmente la EH hará que sea mucho más fácil evaluar más rápidamente si un nuevo fármaco experimental está funcionando para ralentizar o detener esos cambios típicos. Enroll-HD es un estudio observacional prospectivo, lo que significa que rastrea a las personas a lo largo del tiempo, en lugar de pedirles que recuerden cómo han cambiado sus síntomas.

JOIN-HD es un registro mundial de familias afectadas por la Enfermedad de Huntington de inicio juvenil (EH Juvenil), cuyo objetivo es arrojar luz sobre este diagnóstico, reunir a las personas afectadas por la EH Juvenil, aumentar la concienciación y el conocimiento sobre esta enfermedad, facilitar la investigación y ayudar a promover una mejor atención. El objetivo principal es recoger una muestra de LCR (líquido cefalorraquídeo) de alta calidad para evaluar los biomarcadores y las vías que permitirán el desarrollo de nuevos tratamientos para la EH. El objetivo secundario es generar una colección de muestras de plasma de alta calidad que coincida con las colecciones de LCR, que también se utilizará para evaluar los biomarcadores y las vías de relevancia para la investigación y el desarrollo de la EH.

El objetivo principal de REVHD es poder confirmar si una proteína llamada Factor Neurotrófico Derivado del Cerebro (BDNF) es un biomarcador de la enfermedad de Huntington (EH).

¿Por qué es importante este estudio? Tenemos buenas razones para creer que el BDNF tiene un papel activo en la protección de las células cerebrales dañadas, así como en la mejora del crecimiento de las nuevas. El estudio nos proporcionará información más sólida sobre la conexión entre el BDNF y el desarrollo de los síntomas en humanos con Huntington. Si se demuestra que es relevante, los niveles de BDNF serán probablemente un objetivo para el tratamiento en el futuro. En este estudio se espera que los niveles de BDNF en el líquido cefalorraquídeo y en la sangre se identifiquen como un biomarcador de la enfermedad de Huntington.
